EXPANSION NEWS: UWS Welcomes Back The New York Magic

New York, NY - United Women's Soccer (UWS) is delighted to announce the return of the New York Magic to its league for the upcoming 2024 season. The New York Magic, one of the oldest women's soccer franchises in the United States, brings a rich history of competing and a commitment to player development to the UWS.

Commonly referred to as the "United Nations of Women's Soccer" due to its roster of international players, the New York Magic has long been a staple in women's soccer, providing a highly competitive environment for female players while fostering their growth and development. The team's mission aligns perfectly with the goal of UWS in promoting and advancing women's soccer at all levels.

The Magic will play its home games at the state-of-the-art facility on the campus of Columbia University.

Competing in the New York Metropolitan Women's Soccer League (NYMWSL), the New York Magic has deep roots in the soccer community. Led by President Lyndelle Phillips and Head Coach Nino DePasquali, the Magic brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the UWS.

Coach Nino DePasquali expressed his excitement about the team's return stating, "There's a buzz in the building about returning to UWS. We are eager to compete in a soccer environment that upholds high quality and standards."

EXPANSION NEWS: Baltimore Lady Warriors Join UWS-2

The United Women's Soccer League 2 (UWS2) is thrilled to announce the addition of the Baltimore Lady Warriors to its lineup of competitive teams for the upcoming 2024 season. The Lady Warriors, owned by Ryan Nash, will bring a new level of excitement and talent to the league, representing the vibrant soccer community of Baltimore.

"We are extremely grateful for this opportunity to participate at a higher level and look to bring a high-level day in and day out," said Nash.

The addition of the Lady Warriors to UWS2 reflects the league's commitment to expanding its reach and providing a platform for talented female athletes to showcase their skills. Baltimore has long been known as a hotbed for women's soccer, and the Lady Warriors are poised to continue that tradition of excellence.

EXPANSION NEWS: Ole FC Mutiny Joins UWS2

United Women’s Soccer is excited to announce the launch of Olé FC Mutiny. This club will be an Olé Football Club Academy initiative that aims to empower women’s soccer in the area by guiding and supporting them to reach the highest level in the sport. In partnership with the esteemed New England Mutiny FC, who have won numerous league titles and have been committed to player development since 1999, we are embarking on a journey to redefine women’s soccer.

“It is a great pleasure to announce our partnership with the New England Mutiny. It is an amazing organization in women’s soccer that has been providing and producing talent for decades,” stated Ole FC President Rodrigo Nunes. We look forward to working together and making the clubs and communities even more successful. Players in our organization will have a pathway that is realistic and directly involved with high-level soccer,” added Nunes.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ole FC Mutiny to UWS2. The club is one of the largest in Connecticut with a rich tradition and experience in running pre-professional teams,” said League Commissioner Joe Ferrara. “I met with the staff and am thoroughly impressed by the success Olé has achieved along with the vision that they shared,” added Ferrara.

At Olé FC Mutiny, our primary goal is to “sharpen” athletes by providing the details and connections to help them excel in collegiate and professional soccer. We believe in providing a platform where aspiring athletes can thrive and pursue their dreams with support and guidance.

Olé FC Mutiny U23 Women’s Team will compete starting in the UWS2, the second division of the renowned United Women’s Soccer (UWS).
